Arts, Crafts, Sculptors and Artists in Kent

Kent has a very fine reputation when it comes to art and artists. Perhaps the most famous aspect is that England's garden as Kent has become known is also Constable Country. Constable painted many of his most famous pictures in the Kent countryside including the Haywain. One look at the Kent countryside and its not hard to see why it has been the inspiration for so many artists over the years and this trend continues today with art enthusiasts travelling from all over the country to paint the scenery. This has also led to a thriving local trade in all manner of art from water colour pictures to sculptures of various sorts all being created by local artists. There are a number of galleries in the area exhibiting and selling local work. The county council has pioneered this form of tourism by opening the Kent county gallery which is actually housed in the county council offices in Maidstone. This gallery specialises in exhibiting work by Kent artists in order to gain them more exposure and bring in tourists.
